This very versitile milk can be made using most nuts and seeds, even though almond is a very popular one. I often use the same recipe and method below, but replace the almonds with brazil nuts, sesame seeds, pecans or cashews.
You can use this milk as the base for a smoothie, over cereal or museli, in soups, stews or just to drink as a replacement for milk |
Ingredients
1 cup (100g) of raw almond (or the nut or seed of your choice, soaked overnight or for 5 hours)
3 cups (720mls) of water
2-4 dates (2 big juicy dates or 4 smaller dry dates) stoned
Directions
Put everything in a blender on high speed until everything is fully broken down. Strain through a nut milk bag, a muslin bag or a strainer.
You can then return it to the blender and add any of the following to add a little extra something
Banana (normal or raw)
Vanilla extract
Raw chocolate
Maca
Hemp protein powder
Mesquite
Carob
Coconut oil
Green super food (Kelp, Spirulina, wheatgrass powder, Chlorella etc)
